Nation-building first, politics later, Kindiki tells leaders

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged leaders to resist divisive politics, saying his boss, President William Ruto is committed to equitable development regardless of political affiliation.

Kindiki averred that it is not the time to politick but to build the country, calling on all leaders to work together to alleviate under-development.

“This is the time for nation-building, not politicking. Every leader in this country, including those in opposition, has a responsibility to participate in development.”

“When it is time for politicking, we will pursue our diverse political persuasions with utmost respect for each other,” he said.

The DP, speaking during an empowerment forum at Kawaya Grounds in Mwala Constituency, Machakos said national unity is critical for development, which the government is advancing through the Bottom-Up agenda.

He also declared he is fully behind President Ruto in serving the people, promising not to waver in discharging his duties and pushing the nation's development.

“We must not spoil the nation’s mood through useless politics that incites division and tribalism…I am yes man to the President and wananchi because they are my bosses,” he stated.

The DP also noted that the Ukambani region is benefitting from the government’s development agenda, which aims to improve the lives of all Kenyans without discrimination.

Kindiki said he is working with leaders from across the region to ensure Ukambani is not left behind, and promised to reach out to opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka for consultations on the region’s development.

“We are developing this region just like every part of the country because no part of Kenya is unimportant.”

In the past week, Kindiki has visited several constituencies in the region, including Machakos Town, Masinga, Kaiti, Kangundo, Kitui East, Kitui South, and Kilome, for similar engagements.

In Mwala, he announced funding for the Mwala-Kangundo Road, several water projects, hundreds of affordable housing units in Masii, and technical training institutes across the area.

He was accompanied by several leaders including Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), and others.
