A woman allegedly stabbed her 36-year-old husband to death over infidelity claims in Homa Bay County.
George Lubembe, who earned a living from repairing phones and television screens, was killed in Homa Bay town.
The 24-year-old woman reportedly went to Lubembe’s workplace near Shivling Supermarket on Friday evening and confronted him over the extra-marital affair before a fight broke out.
The woman rushed to a local food vendor and grabbed a kitchen knife, which she allegedly used to stab the husband on the neck.
Lubembe was rushed to Homa Bay St Paul’s Mission Hospital where he was treated and discharged but on Saturday morning he returned to hospital where his condition deteriorated and he died.
Homa Bay County Criminal Investigations Officer Jimmy Kisobo said the woman fled after learning of her husband’s death.
Kisobo said their preliminary investigations indicated that the couple disagreed over infidelity claims before the matter took a tragic turn.
“The woman was angered by suspicion that her husband was in a relationship with another woman. She disappeared after realising he was dead,” he said.
The woman left behind their three children.
“The woman has disappeared and their three children were left in a bad state,” the police boss said.
He said police were pursuing the woman.
Kisobo urged couples to resolve their differences amicably.
“If a couple feels they have disagreed to a point they cannot reconcile, it is better they separate or divorce peacefully to avoid death,” Kisobo said.
Lubembe's body was moved to Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
