The Director of Public Prosecution, Renson Ingonga, has ordered a probe into the killing of five civilians by security officers in Angata Barrikoi, Narok.
In a letter to Inspector General Douglas Kanja, the DPP ordered a swift investigation and a report to be filed within seven days.
“I direct that those investigations be carried out expeditiously. The resultant investigation file should be forwarded to my office within seven days from the date hereof for advice and directions,” stated Ingonga.
His directives come amidst ongoing fury over the killings that took place on Monday.
The IG had on Tuesday ordered a probe into the killings and the transfer of all GSU and DCI officers in the area.
The violent clashes erupted when police attempted to stop protesters who were demonstrating against the alleged grabbing of 10,000 acres of land by a senior government official.
The land in question is claimed by 448 families who have been farming there for decades.
