The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has urged passengers flying through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and Wilson Airport to plan ahead, check their flight schedules, and allow extra travel time due to significant traffic disruptions expected in Nairobi today.
In a public advisory issued on Sunday, KAA warned travellers to brace for delays resulting from road closures and traffic restrictions around key venues hosting the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 tournament, including the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, and Nyayo National Stadium.
The road closures, according to KAA, are intended to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of participating teams, tournament officials, and thousands of football fans attending the matches.
However, they are also expected to disrupt major routes to and from Nairobi’s two busiest airports.
“To enhance security and ease congestion near match venues, several key city roads will either be fully closed or partially restricted,” KAA said.
