Defiant Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has vowed to continue supporting former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i despite criticisms and threats from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
While condemning the expulsion of nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba from the UDA party, Wamuchomba said that she will support Matiang'i, her long-time friend and classmate.
The legislator said she was ready and willing to be expelled from the UDA party for her support for Matiang'i.
“I am supporting Matiang’i as a personal friend, and I am ready to suffer and be expelled from UDA,” said Wamuchomba.

“President William Ruto should be the first to be expelled from the UDA party for associating with Raila, who has repeatedly denied him despite accompanying him on international trips and forming a broad-based government with him,” she said.
She said that Orwoba has been instrumental in championing the girls’ rights to access free sanitary towels, a fact that the Ruto government has failed to achieve.
“Let Gloria be, and we stand with her, and what the UDA party is doing is petty, and we condemn it. Stop harassing Orwoba. She is the role model many women want to be,” said Wamuchomba.
Wamuchomba encouraged Orwoba to continue associating with Matiang’i and other Kisii leaders.
“Continue to associate yourself with Kisii leaders because you are a leader. When has it been a mistake to associate with your leaders from the community? Orwoba worked under Matiang’i and has a right to associate with him,” said Wamuchomba.
“Raila keeps denying you, and yet you keep him. If there is anyone who should be chased from the party is you, and yet you are zeroing in on a small child,” said Wam uchoma.
Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who is also an ODM member, pledged his support for Matiang’i, who is Ruto’s political nemesis and a hopeful presidential candidate.
He said the courts will come to her rescue, terming Orwoba a victim of circumstances.
Onyonka said that Ruto had been expelled many times from other parties and should understand how humiliating it is.
“We ask UDA to be tolerant and show dignity for Orwoba. I believe the courts will salvage her. Even you, Ruto, how many times were you chased from parties? It is humiliating to chase a young leader because of her association with a friend and a former boss,” said Onyonka.
