All KMPDU officials retain seats in fresh elections

All top officials of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) have retained their positions following Thursday, April 2, elections.
Secretary General Dr Davji Atellah was returned unopposed, while his deputy Dr Dennis Miskellah Mbogori garnered 4,339 votes (69.64 per cent), defeating Dr Wendy Nyeera Kimbui, who secured 1,869 votes (29.99 per cent).
National Chairperson Dr Abidan Mwachi also retained his seat with 4,149 votes (66.59 per cent), beating Dr Deogracious Moses Maero Onyango, who got 1,321 votes and Dr Benjamin Gikeri Magare, who polled 732 votes.
Dr David Kahura Mundia was re-elected Deputy Chairperson with 5,470 votes (87.78 per cent), while his opponent, Dr Odiwuor Brian, received 30 votes (0.48 per cent). A total of 731 voters abstained.
In the finance docket, Dr Mercy Nabwire retained her position as National Treasurer after securing 4,183 votes (67.14 per cent), defeating Dr Zaietuni Akajarot Mulaa, who garnered 942 votes (15.11 per cent) and Dr Caroline Gathoni Mwaura, who received 780 votes (12.51 per cent).
