Matatu Association responds to allegations against its president

The Matatu Owners Association (MOA) has issued a statement addressing allegations involving its president, Albert Karakacha, in a legal matter that has attracted attention.

In a statement dated May 30, the association clarified that the case is currently before the courts and urged both the public and the media to refrain from speculation.

“We wish to emphasise that this matter is still under judicial consideration, and as such, we are legally restrained from discussing it in detail. However, we feel it is important to address the concerns raised across different platforms,” the statement reads.

Signed by MOA Chief Executive Officer Enid Grace, the group called on stakeholders to withhold judgment until the court issues a ruling. The association expressed confidence that the truth will prevail, citing the existence of verifiable evidence regarding the use of the funds in question.

The MOA further reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, accountability, and transparency, noting that its operations, including advocacy for sector reforms and road safety, remain unaffected by the allegations.

“MOA remains strong, united, and committed to serving our members and the public with honesty and dedication,” the statement concluded.
