School Games: Ng'iya Girls rule hockey ahead of Ageng'a semis battle

Ng’iya Girls High School are through to the semifinals of the 2025 Nyanza Region Secondary School Term One games that will be ending on Saturday at St Joseph’s Rapogi Boys in Migori County.
The newly crowned Siaya County hockey girls’ champions finished top of Group A after thrashing Anjego 8-0, Huma 5-0, and Amaiko 1-0.
The Edwin Ogony coached outfit saw off Huma on Wednesday before hammering Anjego on Thursday.
On Friday, Lucy Akoth scored in the fourth quarter to seal the narrow win against Amaiko.

Ng’iya finish top with nine points followed by Amaiko.
The Siaya County champions will play Migori County champions Ageng’a Mixed Secondary in the semis.
“We are happy with the results we have had in the preliminary stages so far. A tough last game but we are taking it slow but sure. Focus remains to win the semis and then we will think about the finals,” said Ogony.
At the same time, defending Nyanza champions Nyamira Girls are also through to the semifinals.
Nyamira booked the last four with a game to spare after seeing off Ageng’a 1-0 and Ogande Girls 3-0.
Nyamira will face off with Amaiko in the last four.
In basketball, Ng’iya Girls made lightweight of Nyakach Girls to finish top of Group A unbeaten and qualify for the semis.
A dominant display from the Naftali Ambala coached side saw Ng’iya dominate 45-31 to win the group.
The Siaya County champions saw off Kadika 91-19 during their opening pool match before thrashing Manga Girls 1113-11 on Thursday.
Kisumu County champions Nyakach joins Ng’iya in the semis after finishing second in the group. Nyakach who are the defending champions defeated Manga Girls 117-14 and Kadika 77-28.
