The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opens 2025 Inter-Institutional Transfer (IIT) window for students to change their institutions or programmes following placement.
The students have four weeks to make the changes with the process officially open on July 14 and close on August 12, 2025, with applications to be submitted exclusively through the KUCCPS Student’s Portal.
KUCCPS emphasized that the IIT process is designed to support students in aligning their academic paths with their evolving career goals and personal circumstances.
“The transfer process allows placed students to either retain or change their courses while shifting to an institution that better meets their aspirations or logistical needs,” said a statement from KUCCPS.
Every year, thousands of students find themselves re-evaluating their career paths or rethinking their institutional choices after the national placement process.

Factors such as distance from home, affordability, programme suitability, or personal preferences may drive the need for a transfer.
Recognizing these realities, KUCCPS facilitates a structured and transparent mechanism to help students make informed decisions post-placement, without jeopardizing their education prospects.
According to KUCCPS, the Inter-Institutional Transfer is an entirely online process that requires coordination among students, receiving institutions, and the institutions they wish to leave. The process begins with the student applying for a transfer on the KUCCPS Student’s Portal at students.kuccps.net.
The institution the student wishes to join reviews and endorses the request online, confirming the student meets minimum requirements.
The institution the student is exiting receives a notification and officially releases the student.
Once both institutions endorse the request, KUCCPS validates the application and issues a transfer letter.
The student downloads the approved transfer letter from the portal and presents it to the receiving institution, which then issues a new admission letter and joining instructions.
“Students must meet the cut-off points for their desired programmes at the new institution. Transfers are only finalized once both institutions and KUCCPS approve the application,” the statement noted.
A detailed guide on how to apply will be provided on the portal to assist students in navigating the process.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the opening of the transfer window, urging students to act within the deadline and seek guidance where necessary.
