Court reinstates Prof Wainaina as Kenyatta University VC

The Employment and Labour Relations Court has ordered the reinstatement of Prof Paul Wainaina as Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor.
Wainaina is expected to make an appearance at the university at 2 p.m. today, where he will be received by staff members as he prepares to resume his duties.
He was sent on leave in April 2024 following a directive from the Head of Public Service.

Reports indicated that Wainaina had accumulated 202 days of leave, which were set to expire on January 30, 2025.
However, after the initial leave period lapsed, the Kenyatta University Council extended his leave.
The Council then appointed Prof Waceke Wanjohi as acting Vice Chancellor.
