Legislator criticises government over SHA

Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo has raised concerns over the flawed new health scheme, the Social Health Authority (SHA).
Speaking during the launch of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) empowerment program in Machakos town, hosted by her Machakos counterpart Joyce Kamene on Friday, Museo said that citizens were being denied treatment and medication because there was limited access to healthcare.
“The government is frustrating Kenyans through SHA. We’ve heard that billions of dollars have been siphoned, but when you go to the hospital, you are told to register for SHA, which is inefficient.” She said.
Museo called for the need for transparency and accountability in the SHA system to prevent mismanagement and corruption.
“There is a need for better public communication about SHA. Many Kenyans are not getting their value for money due to operational failures and poor service delivery.” Museo said.

She said that if there are no changes in the SHA system, they will introduce a bill in Parliament to remove SHA because it is not beneficial to the common mwananchi.
Museo also defended their control of the NGAAF and the MPs National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).
