A court in Kaloleni, Kilifi County, has convicted a 30-year-old man to 20 years in prison for defiling a boy five years ago.
The convict, Amani Chengo, also threatened to kill the 14-year-old if he reported the crime.
Kaloleni Resident Magistrate Geoffrey Mokua said Chengo was convicted of defilement, contrary to Section 10 of the Sexual Offences Act Number 3 of 2006.
According to court documents, the convict committed the offence on the night of December 20 last year at Mtsengo village in Kaloleni, Kilifi County.

Moku said the prosecution had proven all elements of the offence beyond reasonable doubt.
The court heard that the minor, a Grade 6 pupil, had attended a disco party with friends, and while returning home at around 1am, Chengo pursued the group and dragged the victims to a nearby river and issued death threats before he sexually assaulted the minor.
After the ordeal, the minor managed to escape, hid briefly and later returned to the venue where he confided in a neighbour about the assault.
The matter was reported to village authorities and later to the police, leading to Chengo’s arrest.
